About Affinity
My name is Jude Black and I am the Director of Affinity Counselling. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling and am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I am experienced in working with many different clients (men and women) in a variety of areas including anger, anxiety, addiction, bereavement, depression, eating disorders, identity issues, personal growth, relationships, sexual abuse stress.
Finding someone that you're comfortable talking to is as individual as you are. We don't always hit it off with everyone we meet and developing relationships can take time, allowing trust and respect to grow.
The same is true of counselling. Every counsellor is an individual and will work with their own style. Our first meeting will be one where can explore this. It allows both parties to decide if they are able to work together successfully. By making an appointment you remain in control. It simply gives you a place to begin asking questions that may have been difficult in the past.
At Affinity Counselling we work in a non-judgmental way, open to all beliefs and creeds; in our work as therapists we aim to help with the unfolding of the heart, the development of confidence, self-belief, and the acceptance and exploration of the more difficult and hidden areas that can hold us back from feeling truly free.
All our counsellors are qualified with Advanced Diplomas (Ad.Dip) in Humanstic Counselling using a wide variety of theoretical approaches including Person-Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Psychosynthesis. They also attend regular continued personal development training.
They are members of the BACP and they adhere to their code of ethics at all times.
They also attend regular supervision through BACP accredited supervisors and Confidentiality is of paramount importance at Affinity.
